The Cepthar^® SC system is a screw cup implant of third generation. Besides the choice of material (TiAl4V6) beneficial for osteointegration and the rough blastered surface, the system features its modularity. Thus articulation liners of polyethylene (neutral and with cranial overhang of 10°) and ceramic liners of B iolox® forte can be inserted in the identic cup. While the ceramic liner is anchored at the inner cone of the cup, the PE liner is caught firmly against rotation by the snapping groove  of the cup. Micro motions and resultant PE abrasion in the contact area between metal cup and PE liner are therefore minimized.

The Cepthar^® SC cup is available in 12 external diameters from 46mm up to 68mm. The articulation liners are at disposal as follows: for 28mm heads from a cup size of 46mm and up, for 32mm heads from a cup size of 52mm and up. The liners are available in 4 sizes, and every liner is combined with 3 cup sizes. For identification the packages are labelled corresponding to the colour of the trial liners. The design offers an intraoperational freedom of decision to the surgeon, in order to adapt the implant optimally to the needs of the patient and to choose a PE-metal or ceramic-ceramic bearing. To enable the medical care for dysplastic hips, the Cepthar^® SC screw cup has got a polar flattening . In the equatorial area the external contour of the Cepthar^® SC cup shows the same PressFit like the also available ‚low profile’ Cepthar^® PressFit acetabular cup; this supports the primary stability of the screw cup and is the basis for a long-lasting bony fixation.
